Throm'Ka, ( This the official "Ug" we use ingame ;) )

I will add you when I am online this evening.

And:

WELCOME!

A note on the language.

We currently speak different "slangs" in the guild. Some people have a UO "Severed Head" background, some have a Shadowclan background and some are just RPer without any past contact to these languages.

I played UO in both clans on Europa and Siege but try now to go away from the heavy accent. Since the "evil" Allianz is not able to understand our words, there is no real need to "cover" them.

So I think we agreed not to scramble the words and speaking a comon english with some of the "special" Orc words blending in. Like:

Throm'Ka , Dabuu, ZugZug , clomp ....

Gazul still speaks in a slightly scrambled manner due to his barbaric background (and because I got used to it), but he's gradually learning a more "normal" language. ;)

Thats ok! You just used "blah" and "gruk" and only make a "fer" out of "for". :-)

Could have been worse. Like:

Propur blahin iz fer elfie prinzezz..me blahin lyke me blah as lung as Pflugh gruk me blahin me happi. :+

Yeah, I'm using a toned down version of UO orcish that I already got used to when playing my orcs on Battledale. Basically I'm trying not to encrypt it too much with unecessary bastardisations, so others still have a chance to understand it.

But on the other hand I love words like gruk, blah, bubhosh, skah, etc, so I still use them. I mean you can just regard them as slang words. If a guy from England meets someone from the US they'll also might use some words the other person doesn't know. Also with Murgh's social background of growing up amongst pigs, he got a good excuse of having only limited language skills in general.

Apart from that, if people take NPC dialog as a reference for speaking properly, I only see that as an english translation of what they're actually saying in orcish. But I'm assuming that orcish would be a rather simple language, so I try to reflect that by speaking simple english and avoid using flowery words. If someone names me a famous orcish poet I might reconsider though ;-)

Still I believe we should not use words like "ag" for "and", "lat" for "you" and "ash" for "a"/"one", since they are just too commonly used and it would imply that we are actually using a different language instead of just having some slang words.

Well, that much for my personal opinion, but I doubt we'll ever manage to set some sort of standard for the whole guild.
