Can someone please move this into the guild forum? Thanks!

Okay, since people seem to be interested in playing orcs, why not band together and try to establish a roleplaying guild? The name I've chosen is only a working title for this guild and can be changed at will.

Here's a quick description of what the guild should be like, in my eyes:

1. The clan will start on a PvP or RP server (let's discuss this).
2. The clan will only consist of orcs (and maybe trolls - that's something we have to discuss).
3. The clan treats Minotaurs and Undead with caution. The ones are flower-loving, living meat supplies, the others are wicked, vile monsters.
4. The clan supports Thrall although we don't agree with all of his decisions.
5. The clan allows all classes and professions, no restrictions here.

That's it so far.

Personally, I'd rather be on a RP server (name policing) than a PvP server (more thrill). The reason is that people with silly names really ruin the atmosphere for me. Also, I'm sure there are enough opportunities for PvP even on an ordinary PvE server! Blizzard will definitely add to the current Horde vs Alliance battlefields which will give us enough chances to slaughter 'em all.

I also hope that a RP server with restrictions will encourage more mature gameplay. Therefor, camping newbie hunting grounds shouldn't be that much of a problem. Also, with PvP being completely pointless right now I don't see any reason to engage in it. I'd rather do missions with friends, crawling through dungeons and patroling battleground areas than hanging out in newbie zones waiting for evil Alliance members to pop up.

So, fellow orc players, what are your ideas?

I am very much up for it and I also support RP server idea (for many reasons, including likely demographics).

We should agree on some form of "government". My idea is that we should have a warleader (being a warrior - the first one is decided some way, from that point any new one wishing to become a leader has to beat the former one in the duel). The warleader could be advised by a shaman or a council of shamans (or maybe some bigger gathering).

Personally, I would like playing a Warlock.

Count me in as well.

I completely agree with choosing an RP server over a pvp server for the same reasons and I can add that, at least during the final beta, there's been no trouble finding opportunities for pvp on the pve servers if that's what you like. Only thing different really is that the game does not revolve solely around the concept of pvp on a pve server, which suits me a lot better sinse I find myself getting bored pretty fast taking part in pvp battles.

As for the composition of the clan, it might take a little more thinking and planning to work it out. If we're to be too loyal towards Thrall (who is trying to bring the orcs back to their shamanistic traditions) warlocks would most likely be seen as nothing more than untrustworthy outsiders who're only kept within the ranks because of a greater threat from the outside. Not to say that all warlocks are automatically against Thrall, but they do associate themselves very closely with the minions of the burning legion.

Perhaps a more balanced situation would be to have something of an inner struggle between the Thrall-friendly shamans and the more open minded warlocks... all open aggression kept at bay by the strong old warrior leader. Or something like that.

Anyway, I'm sure my brother would be interested as well.

Edit: Oh, and it's nice to see you again, Martinus. I've been a bit busy playing WoW the past few weeks and haven't really checked these forums on a regular basis. As for the orc clan I was posting about earlier I suppose it's been put in the back of the freezer, but then again the broken tusk clan is just about what I had in mind anyway.

Sounds a bit like the Severed Heads Orcs, which I enjoyed a lot :) If I remember correctly, they had a periodic fight between the orcs and the winner recieved a promotion. In WoW there will probably be relatively more non-warriors. Wouldn't mind playing a warrior, but also interested in playing an orc hunter training our beasts of war :)

Anyway, about PvP vs. RP. I'll join where I can get most orc action }(

Good to see you, Branko. I was wondering when you shop up. :)

I like your idea about warlocks vs. shamans - personally when I was saying I want to play a warlock I wasn't actually hoping for anything else. I am quite aware warlocks are distrusted - so will have to find a good reason to hang out with the group. But you know I like playing outcasts. }(

I always liked the "Severed Heads", the name got a certain ring to it :)

Cool that you are starting this clan. I hope we can start a clan on the Alliance side so we can do some PvP action RP-style!

I'll most likely play a shaman or a hunter myself. In my experience those are the two classes that are the most fun to play (hunter is my absolute favourite because of all the different animals you can tame). I will probably have to play a shaman now though, just so there is someone to advice our clan leader about the trustworthiness of a certain warlock. ;)

The only problem I've got with shamans is the way they tend to look and act more like warriors with spells than the mystic medecine-man type of characters they're supposed to be, but I suppose a crooked staff and a grey beard will have to do as far as looks is concerned.

Definitely up for a bit of orcish clan action come the 11th... :)

Currently swinging between a hunter or a shaman. Had a lot of fun playing a hunter (albeit a dandelion-eating hunter) during beta - so much so, that I never got to give a shaman a go.

I'm certainly more in favour of an RP server than a PvP server, but then again I'll go with the flow... I'm already considering a number of alts for WoW! ;)

Well, I've been with the Severed Heads since they started and actually started them as a tribe of Shadowclan on Siege Perilous as well. I wouldn't mind starting this up again, but there are a few problems.

For once, brabbling in orc speech like in Ultima Online doesn't fit into World of Warcraft. I'd rather go for Zug Zug or Lok Tar Rogar. Also, we need to work out the background fiction. Would it be possible to pray to the Bloodgod or are there other gods?

I didn't follow the Warlock vs Shaman discussion, but we've had the same within the Severed Heads, the ones being dark, sinister prophets of doom, the others being healers of body and soul.

It looks as if everyone here is leaning towards a pure orc guild? I wouldn't be too sad about it. ;)

A further question: How does one actually start a guild in WoW? I probably wont be around in the first few days, but I hope that things get going without me as well. ;)

As far as I understand, you need to buy a charter from a "guild master" guy (should be one in Ogrimmar I reckon, since there was an Alliance one in Stormwind) if you want to have the guild formalised. That's essentially it. :)

You can start up a guild when you get to a main city - Orgrimmer (spelling?) for the orcs.

There are guild 'merchants' there. One that allows you to set up a guild - hopefully grabbing the name before anyone else does - and one that allows you to design a guild tabbard that members can (must?) wear...

(Note of caution: Once the tabbard design has been chosen, it cannot be changed!)

To me it makes more sense to make a pure orc guild, though it perhaps wouldn't be such a big deal to have one or two outsiders within our ranks (troll or possibly tauren but not undead).

About creating a guild you do it by purchasing a guild charter and have ten characters sign it, then return it to the npc you bought it from. In Orgrimmar it can be bought from Urtran Clanbringer at the Horde Embassy, wich is located directly to your left (past the general store) when you've entered the city through the main gate.

Ug!

Just wanted to state that I would love to join you once upon a time, although an alliance char on the RP server will have priority (made two rl buddies follow me who insist on playing the alliance and won't leave them).

Which leads to the next question: Are we all going to play on the very same RP server? Would ease things. I am favouring a shaman (even as a lil'wun I would be able to place a few helpful totems) yet might adapt to what is needed when coming late, anyway.

Apart from that I am fine with Severed Heads and do even think about choosing my old name Krupuk again (last ranked as Ribbil Berzurka).

Still don't know where to join and hopefully i'll get wow tomorrow.

I see a couple of orcs here who want to play on an RP server, but ratdeath is gonna start on pvp. I'm still hoping to join the server with most orc actions, but if it's 50/50 I'd rather go with RP. Community is more important to me than the ruleset.

Hi all, I'm very much interested in joining an Orc guild on the RP server.

For those not yet so familiar with the Warcraft universe, it might be a good idea to skim through a brief history:
http://wowvault.ign.com/?dir=history

Besides guild name, a guild can also have a specific tabard. As an orc guild I'm not even sure we want to have a tabard, but if we do, then it's something we will have to decide on before long. If you like, take a look at this Tabard viewer:
http://wowvault.ign.com/static.php?category=guilds&page=tabardviewer

I'm as of yet undecided on what class I'd like to play. I don't really like playing what everyone else is playing, so I'll probably not play a hunter. More likely I'll be a rouge/alchemist or warrior/blacksmith.

For those who don't know me (which is probably everyone except Branko and Martinus), I'm Branko's brother.

Is that skull pink or is it just me?

Anyway... yeah, that's about it if we decide to get a tabard. If we do I think we should only use them on special occations though, as they seem to have been designed more with human paladins in mind than a clan of savage orcs.
