Hi,

I would like to collect ideas howto do events involving both sides?

Problems I found so far:

1. No ingame communication between the leaders of the groups possible other than ( /fart, /rasp ;) ) . So coordination is hard.

2. Balancing. If the differences in the levels are to high, there is no point in doing any PvP. Our Event with "Guardians of the Kingdom" was a laugh, because of their two 40's, who easily whiped the floor with us.

3. Location. Choice of a good location is important, to keep 3rd party involment low and if possibel no mobs around. Anyone found a perfekt location? Easy to reach for both sides?

Lets discuss.

Imho this shouldnt be an problem, now that the board is back up and all.. And the guild leaders can have ICQ chat sessions or regular mail discussions to sort things out.

Aye this could be an problem indeed, maybe set an cap on how many high levelers who can participate beforehand. Set up an "roster" before the event to even things out.

Another aproach is to wait an bit longer untill people level up more, and then say, if you are below level XX then come on your own risk..

Or you can announce before hand that this event is for people between level xx - level xx, dont come if you are below or above.

The world is big, really big, this shouldnt be an problem.

I do not have many suggestions at this moment, but im 100% behind this idea, and i look forward in participating.

I'll reply here because, although the other thread has good ideas, WaThumb reacts on the experience I was part of too.

I think item 1 is related to real-time communication. I bet it was hard figuring out where the other leader was, why it took so long and too solve immediate issues. Both have to be able to use a tool simultaneously with wow.

That should help counter item 2 as well. Balance at the current levels is hard as when a few high levels do/don't show up it will have a big impact. As for the experience: opposition didn't do something to make it more even so it turned out to be fast and boring. Same applied to UO ofcourse which happened at times too.

And the world is big, but some suggestions to nice locations are helpfull :) We tried in Ashenvale, but that area is stretched with everything being reasonable close to the heavily-travelled roads. Thousand needles might be better suited (ambush between two needles) or maybe the entries to charred vale (funnels on both sides).

There are also some small horde/alliance outposts here and there with just a couple of npcs which could be suited for events, like freeing prisoners. Ofcourse there will be a local defense message, but without allowing respawn it will be over far before someone arrives. Stealing something would be harder, as I can't think of any way to transfer items?

Thousand Needles usually is pretty crowded due to Horde quests and players gathering resources. I did however discover a magic mushroom village in Desolace, hidden in a valley behind the village of the (neutral) Magram centaurs in the southeast. The valley consists of two terraces with several houses, installations and mushrooms taller than the buildings. No NPCs. Perfect I'd say.

On the communication issue: How about a representative of each faction (not necessarily the leaders) using teamspeak or skype? Could be rp'ed as interpreters and internally be a fountain of jokes ... err, joy.

Item exchange between factions unfortunately only can be done in the auction house of (neutral) Gadgetzan, I think. By the way ... I would pay quite a sum for Recipe: Savory Deviate Delight, a cooking recipe dropping for Horde players.

Desolace sounds good. Not many people are there, so we should be fairly un bothered there from other players.

I will scout out the place that you mention, im around the Desolace area quite often.

The communication between the Horde and Alliance "leaders" could also be done thru MSN or ICQ, if you run WoW in "windowed" mode..

And further on, if we really wanted to communicate between the two fractions, then i read that theres an mod called "bable fish" out there somewhere wich translates Horde speak to Alliance and vice versa... Dont know if Blizzard is too happy with people using that mod tough..
