Hiya.

Thought I´d throw this out to see how much interest there is for it.
I´ve been thinking of trying to organize a small event; a RP PvP event to be exact.

The idea is quite simple...gather some alliance and horde players, apoint leaders of each faction group who then talk between themselved and set a location for the conflict (for example an ambush point) - and commence.
One problem I see already is that the group who ambushes might have to wait for too long...so it need some planning.
And my thought about leaders deciding, and keeping the ambush point secret it to make it more exciting.

Who´s with me? :-)

Sounds interesting.

I assume you'd only have one life in such an event. That is, you can be resurrected by spell but not by graveyard nor running to your corpse. Might be a short event that way, but I'd rather see that than the usual neverending pvp that it might otherwise become.

Yea, although i would go with that you can run back your corpse get your items, but then get the heck out of there. Or just stay at the "awaking" spot till the event is over (you will be in party anyhow i guess) and then run back.

Its a bit harder then in UO, were you got a deathrobe when you died that you could put on, was a bit easier back then :D

Yes, we need some rules concerning ressurection during these events.

I suggest that upon death you have two choices:

1 - either release your soul and wait at your corpse until the opposing group has dissapeared - and then ressurect.

2 - or wait for a friend to ressurect you.

Another rule could be that the attack signal should be VERY clear, in order to avoid confusion (and give people time to roleplay).
(Could be a bad rule to apply in an ambush scenario, since the element of suprise may be an aspect we wish to face).
More ideas and such?

(How does this saturday evening work for you?)

I could imagine that we arranged a few duels (wether intra- or interfactional), too. Imagine the classic from many movies where both parties are represented by a single warrior (knight, mage ... whatever). Thus even duels related to level or class could take place.

That should create some suspense instead of a quick and somewhat frustrating clomp out. Of course in case the leaders arrange some kind of ambush scenario (i.e. one faction is asked to take a certain route) that might take place after the battle itself.

To avoid interference by 3rd parties the location shouldn't be too crowded, anyway. Remote areas in The Barrens or Stonetalon could do. There is a tunnel leading from Ashenvale into Stonetalon's Windshear Crag area. If you turn right after leaving it and head into the mountains you'll end up in a dusty and quiet valley above an installation of Venture Co. Even on PvP servers I never ran into anybody up there. NPCs (spiders, dinos, flappy things and employees of Venture Co. range up to level 20 as far as I remember, yet don't ever enter the valley described (i think a single spider is roaming half way up). A cemetery is located at Webfinder Path in an acceptable distance.

Another idea: How about one faction defending that upper valley while the other tries to conquer it?

Word of advice: Be cautious with the spider eggs ... *evil grin*.

Last but not least in beta I picked up quests related to the area respectively Venture Co. in Astranaar, Ratchet and possibly at Webfinder (?) Path. Not sure wether one can at least pick quest items from corpses when in a raid group. Then again a couple of standard groups might do as well.

All good ideas here.

Maybe we could get this to be a weekly event, where we from the different fractions meet up once a week and duke it out, both in PvP and duels.

Further on, maybe we can settle down in an area that we like, and do a bit more spontanious RP PvP stuff. An area that are close between Alliance and the Horde but not too crowded.
