Decisions

Hi Folks,

the tension is rising, Friday is approaching fast and we have to make some decisons to prevent us from ending shattered over more than 2 or 3 server.

What we have so far:

Da smellie Elb is going for a PvE Ally guild.
Tragash is proposing a PvE Horde guild.
And Zur will team up with some of his KiLLa friends as Horde on a PvP.

So what are we going to do?

We pick one PvE server and split into two groups, maybe with a Char in each of them.
We pick two PvE server. :(
We pick the PvP server Zur is going to use, joing him or having our own Horde PvP force on it and join him on occasion.

Yup, the RP server obviously :)

I'm going to do this as well...

Probably end up with 1 RP Alliance char, 1 RP Horde Char and 1 PvP Horde char to start with.

I like alts :)

We're going to be on atleast maximum 2 servers. One RP/PvE and one PvP.

Someone here mentioned on a RP server it would be possible to create chars in both factions, someone added that there would be restrictions, though. Does anybody know more about this? On the official website I can't even find a single hint on the issue in general.

Normal servers - No restrictions
RP/PvE servers - same as normal
PvP servers - can only have alts on the same side on the same server..
(so if you want to play both alliance and horde on pvp server you have
to pick two)....

If I am not mistkane... thats the impression I have got from people..

Hm, so actually we really just have to decide on a single RP server (where we can play both factions just as we did in UO) and on a single PvP server since it appears that all favouring that are going Horde, anyway?

Great! Then the procedure shouldn't be to difficult. We either choose in advance if they publish a list before launch or think about a system like First PvP/RP with the letter F (if not available G, H, I ...) and confirm it here asap or those who are ready to play (I for instance will probably receive my copy a little later) meet on IRC on Friday, decide and publish their choice here immediately.

I just hope they let go of a server list a day before, that way i can be able to try round up bunch of people from the UO community :)

Lets pick two persons which will decide about the server and post it here on friday. So nothing can go wrong.

Elbeng for the RP ?
Zur for the PVP ?

If you cannot wait for their posting on this board, you may pester them via ICQ. :)
And if we encounter problems with the servers, well we will have two people we can blame for it. :P

I have heard rumours saying that Blizzard might open the servers at midnight between thursday and friday but dont hang me if it turns out to be untrue :P
However it could be true since alot of Danish gameshops open up just before midnight, thursday, to start selling WoW

I will keep an eye on some more people, but will most likely have
nailed down a PvP server during the day of friday, I have taken the
day off to camp my local ebgames stor for my precious collectors
edition box at 10:00am (CET) :)

I will post which server I choose, by friday noon/evening I am sure it
should be decided where I am going to play, _if_ we have a smooth
launch day......

I still remember the Age of Shadows launch....
the pain.. the memories.. the horror.. the reverts... aaarrrgh!! :D

Wondering why old people always rant about the "good old times"? Seems we are "old" now. ;)

I said in an earlier posting that the servers should be "named" by people planting the flag. So, you look at the message board/irc channel, and if no one else has posted, you go choose a server, and plant your flag by letting everyone else know where you are and hopefully everyone will follow. I see three flags that need to be planted:

PVE server - "The RP Server"
PVP Alliance server
PVP Horde server

If we pick two people who do not have the game by Friday, then people who want to play will end up waiting and that makes no sense to me. It should be a case of, he who has the game first, gets to declare and the rest of us follow.

If an RP server is named by Blizzard, then that makes that decision easy.

I dont think that this will work out.
We would provoke a "race" which did not help anyone and brings in the danger to be "shattered".
For the PvE server it should not be a problem to wait or to spend the time somewhere else because it's RP, meaning you just loose some ours of finest roleplay and not grinding exp. Not?

Battlegrounds are coming for RP servers too.. So im a bit in a hurry to get to lvl 60 :o

Right so who are we going to name then? Because all I can see is a committee being setup to decide on who we should name, because there will be people who want to whinge about who is chosen etc.,

I recall sitting in IRC when SWG launched and everyone waiting for someone to make a decision, and needing a committee to make a decision, and it seemed very tedious and boring.

I am all against committess, wasting time and all the related nonsense. Direct action removes all that. Anyway, if no one else posts anything telling me where to go in a clear fashion on the forums I'll just post where I'm going, I will not be waiting around whilst a "committee" decides where we should all go.

Of course if my copy does not arrive on Friday, I won't be going anywhere :)

Committee? I proposed that we named two persons which are going to choose the server. So you just have to wait for them and not a poll or phone conference.
You might agree that the start on the Rp server is not realy time critical.

Well it is a proposal..

But I know that I will make my PvP Char on the same server with Zur and my RP char dont want to miss the chance to slap the stinking Elb around. ;-)

Well time is creeping up on us, so we better get this decided ASAP. I don't want to be sitting in an IRC channel on Friday watching an endless discussion about crap ;)

I don't care what we do as long as there is a clear decision made, and no one is sat around waiting for the decision to happen, else they should be making the decision themselves.....

I'll put forward my two choices then, and I've not talked to them or anything so they might not be to enamored with the concept, but how about freaky deeky elf boy, Elv'eng for the RP PvE server, and Ratdeath for the PvP server?
