Themed guild or not?

If we're going to join a server, should we go for a themed guild or not? Basically, such that we should just make orcs or elves and so forth.

I vote aye, due to that i think if we could create a themed type of guild it would help to create a better roleplayign feeling.

If it would happen, im either for Orcs and number one, and Undeads as number two.

but I want to play an orc! and would have to be seriously pressured into playing something else :)

I think majority of people I know will be on Horde side... so something will be cooked up there. I think Paxicon wrote some sort of basic fiction once too, for it. I do not think he will be on any CF thing, or maybe I am mistaken.

With all due respect ... there the theme plan didn't really work, did it? At least in my opinion it apparently lacked motivation. Everything was just a little too perfect. And WoW doesn't even really offer any remote spot to unfold our roleplaying talents undisturbed as around Yew or Arch Mesa. Apart from instances I am afraid it's rather reduced to joint travelling and operations.

However my first char will be alliance. Probably an elf since right now I love my priestress a lot. And can reach the dwarven, gnome or human zones after a day (at level 10) without problems if necessary. Might join the Horde (on another server?) later. So I am going to follow Elveng or vice versa.

Guess I'll receive my game copy from amazon.co.uk one or two days late, anyway.

Its to hard to try to please everyone..

If we go horde on a PvP server i might join up with you guys there, and in that case i vote for playing Orcs.

In the same time i will play Vimes as a human Warrior on a RP-server, there simply aint no roleplaying going on on the PvP ones. (judging from the beta that is).

There will be plenty of PvP on the PvE servers, Battlegrounds and Raids. And if you wish, you can download the app that enables you to be in PvP mode all the time wich alot of RPérs seem to use on the US servers. Its seems wrong not to support a real RP-server where likeminded people are gonna play...

I will play where it is the most fun, time will tell if its playing horde with you guys or if its gonna be on the RP-server..

You are right Karma :) I did not learn ;)
The idea i had was basically that we should try go same race, i just see it as it would be fun to see 10 orcs/undeads walking about or charging towards bunch of humies and crush them :D

Basically, not a real structured guild. More a theme, that is aimed towards a race

There seems to be a minor problem though: I, lvl 12 dwarf, went all the way to Dirk (12 night elf) and he couldn't share some quests. I think a lot of low-level quests are race or class restricted? Furthermore I played a hunter and it was hard to find guns&ammo&dwarven stout :9. Another thing was that I died about 10 times before making it as the road was through several lvl 15-20ish areas. Maybe there's an easier route ;)

Anyway: just minor issues as I bet it's no problem after lvl 20 or so (you don't need a new gun every day) and results in personal prefence which automatically counter the problems anyway. I just hope we all can find the preference on the chosen server(s) and am sure we'll meet up after that without some kind of forced theme. I'm sure there will be a lot of theme plans though, might even be interested in an orcish clan too. Luckily this time you won't see dwarvish covert :+

Hm, just for the record (and to increase confusion) ... with my elven priestress I did almost all Loch Modan quests I once (in the US beta) had done with my dwarven hunter already (need a few levels for this weekend's raids). On the other hand I cannot pick a quest in Darnassus which rewarded my dwarf with potions allowing you to breath underwater!

Even more as the engineering lass I play I am more often in Ironforge than around my deep forests because there simply are no advanced trainers and except in Auberdine no forges! Yet I love it and cannot wait to be one of the first elves to turn up in IF and start the fashion adventure ... *winks*.

I consider travelling as an important part in WoW and constantly do it. Having bound my hearthstone in IF I can get there instantly from everywhere. And the flight from IF to Menethil to catch the (free) boats costs only 3s30c. Quite affordable once or twice a session after the money starts to come in from trading or looting. Not to mention that my mining detection does work nicely while riding a griffon!

And ... err, although the 15 gold from a friend came in handy to just train or buy what I wanted ... *blushes*, at level 20 and with 185 engineering I receive at leat 1g25s for a superior gun "Made by Kailash" respectively buy gems cheap from people in the wild to sell them high in IF. Ironforge. Roleplayer's nightmare. I love it ... *grins*. And am glad everytime I get away. Running joke in a german forum: Haven't I seen you in the auction house earlier?

On the horde side, an orcish clan would be great, imo. I think there is a thread around with an idea for it.

The problem with this is that we all have our favourite little race and class we want to play, it's even diffucult to gather all friends on one side, then add the choice of server ruleset and so on. We whined about only humans in UO but it seem it was for the best maybe :)

Maybe we limit not the race but the class a race can play.Like Orcs going only for warrior or hunter, Trolls for rogue and Taur as shaman. You get the idea. What do you think?

Hmm, when I think about "Orc" I just dont have the picture of a stealthing hidden creature in my mind which is backstabbing the enemy. This fits more the role of a Troll from my opinion. Orc are brutes and are runing with a "Waaagh" into the enemy, knowing that their trollish rogue friends will have a nice surprise for them from behind. ;)


Another question, has anyone allready a good name for the guild?

Personally I am going to play WoW with an open mind, going to
try and "RP" but I will play and adept after the server atmosphere.
Also have some friends who arent 100% into roleplay whom I am
going to team up with.
