Assuming that the PvE server would be an RP server if one exists, and likewise on the off chance there is a RP-PvP server then I'm sure we'd use that. Also on PvE servers you can have both horde and alliance chars.

I choose PvP Horde.
Will make grouping more important and stick together.
Might be intresting times, getting gankzed.
If there would be a PvP RP server at start I would
try to gather my friends on that one, but it doesnt
seem to happen, so it's PvP server all the way :)

I'd prefer horde too.
Have primarily played on a PvE server I think going PvP is better, it's silly watching enemies in your territory and not being able to do anything to them until they attack an NPC and get PvP flagged.
This is a PvP game imho, of course getting ganked when hunting in contested areas is a good possiblity, but then risk=fun.
Down with trammel!

We have to decide on wich server we want to play on upon the release day... If people start to play on different servers upon the release then we are doomed to be shattered all over the place..
No one wants to start over again..
Would be great if Blizzard could release the Europe realm-list before the game goes live.
My initial tought was that i definitly were going to play on a RP-server, i dont have nothing against PvP, but my tought is that alot of people who really wants to roleplay WILL choose a RP-server.
In the USA the Silverhand shard has been named the "unofficial" PvP-Roleplay server. Whatever PvP-server we choose, i recommend we try to "sell" it and promote it as the "best" PvP-roleplay server on the different message boards.
The more likeminded people we can organize, the better..

I chose PvE-Alliance but if the majority of people I know and are good RPers joins PvP I will of course follow. Community is what counts and to me, the important thing is that we are together.
I will be playing a Human Paladin as my main, since this is the type of char i ALWAYS play and love.
Other tempting combos are also an Elf Hunter or an orcish shaman. Probably what my alts would be.

I agree with Vimes, an early server decision is important.
If i had to decide today, i would choose horde PvP. However, that preference might change with the battlefield implementation.
I´ve played all races, and i definetly prefer the horde ones.
I know Elv'eng has a special place for elves...and for me that weights quite heavy since I loved playing UO with him and Deepwater/Andune.
I would love to have both things, good friends AND horde...but if you all insist on Alliance...I dunno what to do... x(

I’ll most likely play a horde character on a PvE/RP server. I’ve been playing on PvE servers since the final beta started and I’ve had a number of fun PvP experiences so far. I think it’s a misconception that there’s no PvP taking place on the PvE servers. There really is, only both sides has to agree to it before it takes place, which means that you’ll never have to worry about ganking and corpse camping and stuff like that. I know a lot of people enjoy the extra competitiveness and excitement it brings to the game, but it’s not something for me.
As for race I’ll most likely play an orc (shaman or hunter) though I might be convinced to play a tauren, dwarf or troll.

All the PvP I've done has been on a PvE server, so yes it certainly does exist.
However I find the implementation a bit iffy. If some alliance people are at the crossroads then why should you have to wait til they attack an NPC before being able to deal with them?
I also encountered a situation where 2 level 30ish chars were at the Ratchet docks taunting a about 8 level 15ish horde chars. Nothing the horde chars could do though other than emote at them.
In a PvP game which this is ultimately (if you want happy fluffy game then play EQ2 :) it makes sense to play on a PvP server.
I am concerned by the ganking on a PvP server but to me the benefits outway the bad sides. Having been ganked to kingdom come in UO so many times it's not exaclty something that bothers me.
imho of couse.

My own preference is PvP Horde, I will play a Undead Priest as my primary on that server. I think we should really establish four types of servers on start day to cover all play styles so people know where they can expect to find their friends. Something like:
PVP Horde =
PVP Alliance =
PVE Horde =
PVE Alliance =
And then maybe list the players who are playing on each. Could we maybe all agree to get onto IRC on 10th/11th February to ease communication. As far as choosing the exact server, I think that should be down to the first person who gets on a server and plants his "flag" with a message to the board and a message in the IRC channel. There is no point in having a committee to decide this... I would just ask that we try to choose servers that might not be as populated as others to give late comers a fair chance to get in (without a crystal ball its a bit tricky, but for example, if there are 20 servers, then kicking off on servers 1-5 might not be a good idea).
Ah, I've just seen its only the Beta servers that have pretty numbers, oh well, get your crystal balls out then!

Well PvE Horde/Alliance can be on the same server (as in you can have chars of both types) and according to the FAQ there will be an RP server, so that hopefully should clear that up easily (unless there are multiple RP servers...)
Other than that, I agree :)

I just wouldn't know :(
Like, an hour ago I thought PvP would provide better end-game (and voted PvP here), but now I just read some posts of people claiming that RP/PvE provide enough PvP and that if you do go on a PvP server you will get ganked lots. Even when you just want go mine a bit or collect some herbs.
On an RP server you can still initiate PvP (e.g. summon the orcs and attack alliance NPCs), but cannot force someone to PvP. Or so I believe now and if so, that doesn't sound too bad.

I think there is a simple answer to all this:
When we have a server list we choose:
1 PvP server for Alliance
1 PvP server for Horde
1 RP/PvE Server
That way we won't have any conflicts where people have horde chars on a PvP server that other people have alliance.
Everyone can try out PvP servers if they choose, and we cann all have alts/mains on the RP server. As you can have both horde and alliance on a PvP server factions are not so important.

In my oppinion we need to have a main plan which as many of us as possible can agree with in order to gather our forces, and start building our guild.
I would prefer if we were one big happy family under one roof. :+
But ofcourse you can´t force anyone...so announcing "our" PvP and RP servers is a good idea.
How about making a list of whom will play horde/alliance amongst us...and those who´ll be mindless sheeps and go with the flow?
Right...maybe i should start something then...
I´ll be a sheep, btw.
Um...dammit, I thought this would post would clear up my own confused feelings about this...but it hasn´t.
Where´s a dictator when you need one... :P

All these choices are driving me mad...
I need to stop worrying, and be happy. Just ignore me for now, I´ll calm down eventually.

I mostlikely want to play on RP server. There is some attraction towards PVP server here, but if it becomes as a choise between where to find RP more easily or more free PVP, role-play wins by landslide.
So unless everyone I know goes to PVP server, I think I try RP server :)
