I want to play on a PvP server too. Although if you can only play chars of one faction per server then as Elvy I'll create an alt on an RP server (presuming we get European RP servers).
On a side note has anyone got their final beta pre-order key thingy yet from when they pre-ordered? I certainly haven't :(

Waiting for EU release, too. And also fancying PvP, although I'll keep a close eye on the cheating pack before making a final decision. Wouldn't make much sense to me to continuously suffer from Blizzard's nonefforts to control 3rd party programs.
Planning to start with a dwarven hunter (which later will be based in Booty Bay and live a pirate's life), yet also extremely interested in an orcish and/or undead career with some of you veterans. Guess it would make sense to announce recommended servers for horde and alliance chars early since Deepwaterians joining both factions on the very same server won't be able to communicate in game.

Well with you having a dwarf and Elvy an Elf then I guess we'll go Alliance on whatever "main" server we choose.
However playing horde sounds like fun so I think maybe we should go alliance on a PvP server and Horde on a normal (or RP if there is one) server.

Eek, on English Beta 9 myself.. don't suppose there's anyone that happens to provide some company there?
Nightelf Hunter, to see what Alliance is like after trying Horde in US OB. Nevertheless, so far I'm liking Horde a bit more, I think..

Bah elves smell.
So far I have to say I find the horde races far more interesting.

WAAAAAGH!!
HISSSSS!!!
Yes.. Horde for teh win :)
I am probably going PvP server, will making grouping and
sticking together with friends more important. The RP part
will mostly be from within the guild anyway maybe with like
minded horde players, the enemies are to get killed anyway
so not much to RP about there as it is war.
But then again, who knows with dudes and kids in todays
mmorpgs, maybe better to stick to a RP server and take
part in the battlegrounds.
Personally I think the RP part is a bit broken if I can't
attack my natural enemies.... so hmm PvP server..

I agree on your disappointment. With communication only possible within your faction in my opinion the fun of roleplaying is greatly reduced. It also prevents to make use of the game mechanics in a way similar to what we had in UO/ERPA. Theoretically on a normal or RP server it would be possible to manually switch to PvP or organize raids if the opponents (wether single players or groups) agree on set RoE. Practically this had to be arranged via external messengers and one would never hear/read/see the enemies' warcries etc. No taking of hostages, no torturing, no burning alive, no ... by the way does anybody know wether Saktoth (spelling?) will be around?
Will gladly join any horde clan (preferably orcs or maybe undead) although currently a dwarf is what I am going to bring up first. Favouring PvP servers for both careers especially since the only difference seems to be that they are granting an enforced name policy there. And in that I don't believe after all those years ... *winks*.

Im leaning towards joining a RP-server. Check out this thread http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-role-playing&t=7388&p=1&tmp=1#post7388 its a tool to enable you to be in PvP mode ALL the time on RP servers... And alot of people on RP-servers use it...
And also, Battlegrounds are comming for RP-servers aswell, when you feel the need for PvP then just go there... Sounds like a good solution too me.
I read somewhere that you can learn other "languages" as you gain levels, but i dunno if this applies to the other fraction?
Regards.

I've actually got a character on English Beta 9, only he's a Tauren warrior so I'm not sure he'll be able to provide all that much company.

HI Vimes :) Good to see you around again :)
I think it would be fun if you could learn SOME of the languages. Like that you could hear some what the other creatures are saying, bits and pices so to speak.
Im not sure if that PvP mode at all times is good thing, i mean there will be gimps and such things abusing it. Although im not sure about that either :p How strict will Blizzard be to enforce the roleplaying part? And if so, how strong rules will there be?
Suppose all this stuff have to wait, till we get in game. But like i said above i will probably go with two servers, one PvP and one RPer, and i will focus most on the one that i like most :)

Very nifty tool.
I PvP'd for the first time tonight, and it was on a non-pvp server, some level 18-20 alliance attacked the newbie town I was at (not starting town, but one up) I was level 12.
As they were in horde territory they were freely attackable while they could not attack me until I initiated combat, a bit like the old blue grey/red stuff in UO in a warped way.
Anyway, a couple of people joined me and we killed the invaders twice (I don't know where they respawned but obviously wasn't too far away).
I got a good PvP buzz out of it I have to say. I'm leaning towards the one PvP and one RP server route myself. Horde on one and Alliance on the other. I do feel the PvP servers will have very limited RP, but of course it is always what you make of it. We never had any trouble RPing at doods in Deepwater and can continue to do so. The non-pvp server do have a good amount of PvP though, if you choose it and it being more concensual has its advantages and disadvantages.
I'm going to give it a rest now, I think I've found what I like, and will probably have either a hunter, priest or mage main.
Back to EQ2 for a couple of weeks until release...
Probably...
Damn it I'm an addict already *mutter*

Eve is good, Cuscaden plays it and I have some RL friends who have been playing it since release and love it.
Swords and Sorcery for me though!
I'm continuning to play my Tauren warrior in beta, there is no way I'd play this type of char again in release so decided to carry on as it's too frustrating waiting for release :)

Hey hey!
Blizzard finally got my beta account working (took them no less than 2,5 months... :) and I've been playing a bit (lvl 11 human rogue, played with a night elf and an undead on some other servers but they looked both too freaky) on the PvP Server. Yes, that's right, the one which is called just "PvP Server".
Dunno if I'll play after the beta though, probably depends whether Vivendi chooses to bribe me with a press account or not. :) And I've been neglecting my EQ2 guildmates too. But we'll see.
