well i bought it but sadly im out of town and im getting back in two days...i was wondering what class and races people are playing. So far im really likeing (by looking at race and class and the website) the hunter class and night elf race. So please post on what race and class your playing and your thoughts on that race and class. Thanks everyone :)

I'm not playing yet as the final european beta hasn't started, but when it does I'll most likely play an orcish shaman. I don't think I'll ever play a night elf because I don't like the way they look, but that's just a matter of personal opinion. From what I've heard though, hunter is probably one of the most fun classes to play.

well im for sure hunter but i might get persuaded to some other race with the hunter class. But the nightsaber as a mount for night elves just looks real cool :9

Will take you a while to get the required level for a mount anyway :)

I can say from experience that warrior seems to be a pretty underpowered class on its own compared to others.

Not sure what you mean by underpowered ... *winks*. During US beta a real life mate played a warrior and my hunter (plus pet) mostly grouped with him. We also closely watched each other soloing and all I can say is that both us were able to defeat single opponents up to 2 levels above us. The hunter's very advantage is that in PvE he may concentrate even hostile groups' aggro onto his pet and flee (read: outrun). That doesn't work in PvP as I can confirm.

A hunter is nice for soloing simply because looking for new species to tame always comes as an extra while solving quests or exploring. In the mentioned team with a a single warrior my pet usually tanked until dead (which doesn't cost you anything but some mana and an animation taking some time) and thus left the warrior enough time and hp to finish it off while I kept shooting from a distance. On higher levels it's rather a supporting class, though. Stunning melee styles for instance are nice effects while your tanks do the slashing, however being bound to leather armor until level 40 makes you pretty vulnerable. It's a hit'n'run-class. In PvP on larger scale I usually scouted (hunters get extended radar features), marked, buffed and sniped/poisoned from a spot hard to be climbed (rocks, dead wood ...) ausing my pet either as bodyguard or to support casters and healers under attack. I also had quite a lot of fun using potions which allowed me to breath underwater for 30 minutes and intercept intruders from beneath the surface of rivers or lakes in Ashenvale ... *grins*.

By the way ... a feature I hated on some other classes (read: would have loved to be able to use myself) was true hiding/stealthing. Great for ambushs which after all is what WoW is about for a hunter ...

I was referring to PvM when I said the warrior is underpowered (havent actually tried PvP yet :). That is mostly because a warrior can neither heal himself (like paladin or priest), he cant buff himself with protective magic (paladin, priest, mage and dont know about the others), he doesnt have a pet to help him out (warlock, hunter) and he cant temporarily render his victims helpless (mage, rogue). Keep in mind though that these observations are made by a player with only a level 14 warrior ;)
